Hi

I have been looking at the website for some months now. My name is Lorraine and my husband Keith (of 6 months) and I have two rabbits. Brother and sister Velvet & Biscuit who are also 6 months! They are absolutly adorable (will post pics in the picture forum) and are really starting to develop proper little personalities. They live in their hutch outside and have an enclosed run however they have been playing inside over the winter as it has been so cold. They rather enjoyed watching 'Homes under the Hammer' with me last week while chilling out on the sofa! Biscuit loves nothing better than flopping out on her tummy on the middle stair while chopping on some Timothy Hay! Velvet on the other hand prefers running round and round in the run like a mad thing!

I do a lot of fundraising through work and would love to be involved in all your activities if you will have me!

Lorraine x

Hello, I have a 4-year old overweight French Lop called Pepsi. I adopted her 3 weeks ago to bond with my male bunny Gizmo who is a English Spot Cross. Unfortunately he passed away last Thursday for a disorder where huge stones and silt had gathered within his bladder. He was only 1-year old, but it is possible that this was a genetic flaw with my bunny. I won't say which large chain I bought him from, but I will definitely be looking for a rescue bunny to bond with Pepsi when I am less busy in November.
I will be looking for a small neutered male, possibly Lionhead or English Spot Cross. Pepsi is a big bunny and I have realised that an untrained Lop is a big project/problem. Pepsi is picking up litterbox training very quickly, but she has issues with being picked up. I am getting around this issue by transitting her in a cat box when I need to move her. However, I am worried that she will not let me check her over and I may have a similar gut problem with her in the future. I am increasing my handling time day by day, but she is a stressed bunny at the moment.

Hello, welcome to the forum :)

I am sorry you lost Gizmo :(
Well done for giving Pepsi a home, I hope in time you will find a nice boy bunny for her to bond with. If she is overweight she might find it uncomfortable being picked up and that could be one reason why she doesn't like it, so maybe she will settle down as she loses the weight. On the other hand she might just not like it at all! Try not to handle her too much to start with, just gain her trust a bit first and stroke her when she is on the floor so she can get to know you better. Once she has settled down a bit, then try and pick her up for a very short time to start with then put her straight down again and offer her something nice so she starts to associate being picked up with a reward :) Then gradually increase the time you hold her. I have found this to work quite well most of the time. Do you know if she has been spayed? Unspayed females can be a bit more feisty so that could be a factor as well.
